NSCC STRIVE

Take a look at the making of the NSCC STRIVE films. And meet Kevin, the NSSC grad and cinematographer that helped bring them to life.

Nova Scotia Community College’s STRIVE campaign was developed by Extreme Group to position the school as a leader for a variety of educational opportunities in the province. The campaign centred on the idea of aspiration. These videos showcased the successes and career paths of former and current NSCC students.

Working with Director Andrew Hines, Current Studios produced a series of online videos and broadcast commercials over a week of shooting in the cold winter months of 2016. Shot on the Arri Alexa, the goal was to capture footage that was both cinematic and personal. Interviews were kept conversational, allowing each student to describe their experiences with NSCC in an authentic way.

TRIBECA REACTOR CASE STUDY

Current Studios produced several pieces of film content, used for cinema, online, and television to advertise the Tribeca Film Festival. The technology team developed the TriBeCa ReActor - the world’s first artificially intelligent acting judge. The film content brought to life this interactive experience as it connected people with the magic of film and how the classic moments in cinema take on a life of their own.

ATLANTIC LOTTERY CHANGE

Four provinces, seven days.

Current, along with a compact film crew, embarked on a road trip across the Atlantic provinces to showcase how Atlantic Lottery positively affects communities in the region. We produced four online videos that highlighted specific topics with an overarching sixty second broadcast commercial that tied it all together. Stunning camera work, a cast of hundreds of non-actors, a custom score and a snappy edit came together to tell the story of a region with a vibrant lifestyle and landscape. The best part of getting to work on a project like this is the opportunity to show off the people in our region that work together to build a community that supports each other, but also a community that takes the time to enjoy everything that this area has to offer.

RBC VR EXPERIENCE

Brightworks hired Current Studios to produce three 360 interactive VR videos for their financial client RBC. The experience was used to communicate RBC Rewards to potential customers by demonstrating a few of the ways the reward program can benefit cardholders. Built for the Samsung Gear VR, people could experience a tropical beach, golf getaway, and exclusive dining experience, while exploring the line-up of RBC Rewards products available within each of those themes

VOGUE PHOTOSHOOT

The cliffs of Cape D’Or in Nova Scotia were the setting for this fashion editorial photo shoot with Vogue Magazine. North Six, a New York-based production house, reached out to Current Studios to provide local production support on this high-end project. We jumped at the opportunity to host such a world-class team as Vogue Magazine in our neighbourhood.

The creative approach called for a remote location and magic hour light, so we travelled over two hours into rural Nova Scotia, where Parrsboro, the closest town to our location, played host to supermodels Karlie Kloss and Dylan Brosnan. Pre-sunrise call times and harrowing drives down miles of dirt road to reach our location were how we started our days, but when the sun came up behind distant Cape Split, it was obvious why they chose this Nova Scotia locale for this shoot. After shooting around the Cape D’Or lighthouse, the second location was at nearby Cape Chignecto to grab the sun setting behind our models as they strolled along the remote, rocky, cliff-lined beach.
