Marriott’s M Beta campaign is a testing ground for their latest amenities, designs and procedures. We partnered with Grey New York to build a custom button to register guest approval of innovations throughout the Marriott Charlotte City Center hotel.

Our biggest challenge was how to power the illuminated components without a power outlet that similar devices like the Nest include. We settled on 2x D-cell lithium batteries powering a 1.5" OLED display, a 24 LED RBG ring, a 32-bit micro controller, a piezo speaker and wifi module, powered by 2x D-cell lithium batteries.

The end product is a slick anodized aluminum casing mounted on walls in the Marriott lobby, guest rooms, gym, restaurants and stores in the Hotel. Running tallies of guest Likes were displayed on screens throughout the hotel.
